Local Rules

1. Out of Bounds (Rule 18-2)
 

a. Out of Bounds is defined by any fence, hedge, wall, or line of white posts bounding the course.
b. The boundary at the 11th & 12th holes is in or beyond the trench indicated by the white posts.
c. The boundary on the left of the 13th hole is defined by white posts.
d. The boundary on the right of the 15th hole is defined by white posts.
e. The boundary on the 16th hole behind the green is defined by white posts and is on or over the road.
f. The boundary on the 18th hole on or over the road beyond the green.
g. The professional shop, the clubhouse and terrace, gardens, rockery and steps, car parks are all out of bounds.
Note: for rules e. and f. the specimen local rule in Decision 27/20 is in effect as follows:

“A ball which crosses a public road defined as out of bounds and comes to rest beyond that road is out of bounds, even though it may lie on another part of the course”.

 

2. Abnormal Course Conditions(including Immovable Obstructions)(Rule 16)
 

a. Immovable Obstructions
a. All artificially surfaced tees and tee surrounds, roads and paths, including that area of the bridle path on the 2nd and 14thholes are immovable obstructions and relief is obtained under rule 16.1a.  All other paths are integral parts of the course and the ball must be played as it lies or declared unplayable (Rule 19)
b. The water troughs on the 8th fairway and behind the 4th green are immovable obstructions and relief is obtained under Rule 16.1a
c. The stone-filled drainage ditches or channels to the left of the 17th fairway and beginning of the 10th fairway are immovable obstructions and relief is obtained under rule 16.1a.  
 

b. Ground Under Repair
a. Areas identified by blue stakes are ground under repair from which play is prohibited. If such a copse interferes with a playersstance or the area of that players swing, relief must be taken as prescribed in Rule 16.1a
b. Any area encircled by a white line or marker with a GUR sign is deemed ground under repair, and relief must be taken as prescribed in Rule 16.1a
c. Relief without penalty is available if a ball lies in a deep rut on the 'right of way' track to the left of the 6th hole, relief can be taken as prescribed in Rule 16.1a. There is no relief, without penalty, from stance in this area.
d. When playing the 14th as an extra relief option for ground under repair (i) adjacent to the timber sleeper retaining wall on the 14th,(ii) on the bridle path heading south up to a line between the two green stakes, and (iii) on the artificial path heading east from the bridle path towards the fairway, a player may drop in the dropping zone located to the left hand side of the footpath leading from the tee. The dropping zone is a relief area under Rule 14.3.
e. In respect of a. and b. it is compulsory to take relief from all areas.
 

3. Penalty Areas (Rule 17)
 

a. Red penalty areas are defined by either red lines or red stakes.
b. Yellow penalty areas are defined by either yellow lines or yellow stakes.
c. The red staked penalty areas over the tee on the 4th,and to the left of and over the back of the green on the 9th are “No play zones” (Rule 2.4)
 

4. Protection of Young Trees


Young trees identified by blue tape, paint or stakes are “no play zones”. If a player’s ball lies anywhere on the course other than in a penalty area and it lies on or touches such a tree or such a tree interferes with the player’s stance or area of intended swing, the player must take relief under Rule 16.1 f.

 

5. Practice (Rule 5.2)
 

On any day of a stroke play competition, or between rounds, practice is permitted on the designated practice putting green situated between the 17th tee and 18th green. During normal play this is a "wrong green" and rule 13.1f applies.
