JUNIOR CAPTAIN'S DAY - 25th AUGUST 2009
Tyneside's second Junior Captain's Day was well supported with 25 Juniors participating in two different competitions. The first was an eighteen hole stableford for advanced golfers and the other a ten hole competion for developing golfers on a specially prepared course on the practice area.
After the golf, the Juniors stayed on for a meal in the clubhouse and a presentation of prizes. Tom Minto narrowly got the better of last season's winner Lewis Urwin to land the first prize in the eighteen hole stableford competition.
After the presentation, Junior Captain Matthew made a speech where he thanked club officials for all the hard work they had put in to helping juniors throughout the year and made a special presentation to retiring Junior Liason Officer Richard Kidd. He also thanked the catering staff for an excellent meal!
Matthew reflected that he was enjoying a great year as Junior Captain and that his experience of the recent match against Castlerock Golf Club for the Mark Ryder Trophy was a big highlight of the year.
Club Captain Geoff White said, "This has been a great day for all at the club. Everybody seems to have had a great time, and I hope that next year's event is just as good - if not better!"
Lady Captain Kath Barber said, " It has been fantastic to see so many young boys and girls come along and enjoy the day and we hope to see you all again soon."
